Conflict
photography
I will be writing about conflict photography and the resistance
that takes place in this turn of events.
After researching the topic area and viewing the photographs
relating to it, I think the images are horrific and graphic.
These images have been produced to inform the
public about the reality of life and what is going on around the world and the
effects that it has on us.
I think doing this job would be quite disturbing
because of the horrors and traumatic sufferings in the confrontational areas.
The
photographer David Rochkind went to Mexico to investigate the high levels of
drug dealings and war. More than 47,000
people have been killed in suspected
drug-related violence in Mexico over the past six years, according to the
country's attorney general.
Rochkind
moved to Mexico City in 2008 to immerse himself in a
four-year project on the consequences
of the war on drugs.
According
to Rochdale, These photographs attempt to move beyond simple depictions of
carnage to explore the stress and tension that is left in the wake of such
violence and illustrate how this conflict will impact and handicap Mexico’s
future.”
According to the website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_photography, “Conflict
photography is photography concentrated on destruction and war zone events and
also poverty”.
